Bird ownership is a serious responsibility. The policy of Parrot Hope Rescue (PHR) is to assure that each person who adopts a bird is aware of this responsibility and that they are morally, financially and physically capable of accepting it. More so than with most pets, it is very true that not everyone who wishes to own an exotic bird should own an exotic bird.
The following application has been designed to aid both you and our organization in determining whether you, or your family, are the type of owners which we seek to secure for the birds at PHR. Please answer all questions and feel free to explain any answer or add any comments. If a question does not apply, please write “N/A.”
Parrots will NOT be adopted into homes where ANY smoking is done indoors. While second hand smoke is dangerous to all animals and humans, birds have very small and sensitive respiratory systems and can succumb to smoke related illnesses quickly.
To ensure the safety of our staff and parrots, a background check will be completed.
